DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Sophomore Cristina Felip and freshman Marisol Doglioli led the LIU Brooklyn women's golf team in the opening round of the Ninth Annual Lonnie Barton Invitational on Tuesday.
Felip is one shot off the individual lead following a first-round 79, while Doglioli is one behind her teammate and in third place at 80.
As a team, the Blackbirds hold a 10-stroke advantage over Sacred Heart. Delaware State, Monmouth, Robert Morris and St. Francis Brooklyn also comprise the six-team field that played the Legends Course at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Sophomore Alice Boothroyd is tied for sixth place individually at 83 and classmate Brianna Maynard stands a shot back in a tie for eighth. Freshman Victoria Fagan finished at 87 and is tied for 18th.
Gabi Riber of Sacred Heart holds the lead at 78.
