First-Round Results
STANFORD, Calif. - The LIU Brooklyn women's golf team finished the first day of the 2013 NCAA Regionals at Stanford University on Thursday afternoon. The Blackbirds were led by sophomore Brianna Maynard, who shot 78 on her round.
As a team LIU carded a 322 and stands in 24th place behind UNLV and Florida State, who are 12 shots ahead of the Blackbirds and tied for 22nd.
Maynard started slowly but finished by shooting just two-over par over her final 11 holes. Included in that stretch was a birdie on the par-3 17th hole.
Freshman Marisol Doglioli finished her first career round at an NCAA Regional with a score of 80, and registered a team-high 13 pars on the day. Sophomore Alice Boothroyd carded a pair of birdies on the 13th and 17th holes to finish at 81.
In total, three different Blackbirds registered birdie on the 17th, with Cristina Felip rounding out the trio. Felip finished with a round of 83, and freshman Victoria Fagan rounded out the LIU fivesome at 93.
No. 7 Vanderbilt fired a 289 as a team to take a one-shot lead over No. 1 USC after round one. USC's Annie Park shot the low round of the day, a four-under par 67.
The second round of the NCAA Regionals will take place on Friday, May 10.
