BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Coming off of a 1-0-1 week, the LIU men's soccer team looks to continue its success when the Blackbirds travel to Rider Tuesday before hosting Houston Baptist on Friday at LIU Field at 6:00 p.m. Live stats and video are available for both games above.
ABOUT THE BLACKBIRDS
Senior goalkeeper John Connolly had two shutouts last week as the Blackbirds defeated Manhattan 2-0 for their first win of the season, and tied with La Salle 0-0. Connolly recorded 10 saves, including six against the Jaspers. Freshman forward Nathan Stewart scored LIU's first goal of the season on Friday on an assist from Nahuel Medina, while sophomore midfielder Tanner Sica is currently tied for second in the NEC with 17 shots. Sica also has a goal to his name in 2013 after sinking a penalty shot against Manhattan.
SCOUTING RIDER
The Broncs are currently 3-1 this season and have defeated two NEC members, Robert Morris and Bryant. Five athletes have scored goals for Rider this season, including Christian Flath who leads with three. Flath has also recorded two assists.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Rider currently leads a series that started in 1933, 4-7, however, the Blackbirds defeated the Broncs, 1-0 in their meeting last season. Rider last won against LIU in 1996.
SCOUTING HOUSTON BAPTIST
Houston Baptist, a member of the Southland conference, holds a 2-2 record so far in 2013 with wins against Oral Roberts and IUPUI. Two of the Huskies' games have gone into double overtime this season. Tobenna Uzo has scored three goals so far this season to lead his team.

The Blackbirds are on the road for their next three games, including a local game with Columbia next Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 7:00 p.m. LIU Brooklyn does not return home until Oct. 5 when it hosts Howard at 2:00 p.m.
