DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - George Williams finished with 217 for the three rounds of the 2015 Northeast Conference Men's Golf Championship to win the individual title, while the Blackbirds tied for third at the LPGA International, in Daytona Beach, Fla.
LIU Brooklyn carded a team total of 312 for round three to finish with 917 total, tying them with Fairleigh Dickinson. Robert Morris won the team title with 892, followed by Bryant with 906. Central Connecticut was fifth, followed by Wagner, Saint Francis U., Sacred Heart and St. Francis Brooklyn.
Williams carded a 74 in the final round to defeat Bryant's Ryan Tombs by one stroke. The sophomore finished even on par-three score and was under-two on par-five holes, and lead the field with 41 parred holes for the three rounds. He becomes the second champion from LIU in three years, after Josh Waters won the title in 2013.
Kyle Maihi shot his best round of the tournament on Sunday, carding a 75 with three birdies to lead the Blackbirds. The freshman finished with a total of to tie for 10th after parring the final three holes, and earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
Jake Spearpoint tied for 26th with a three-round score 239 of after carding an 83 in the final round. Junior Stewart Gray finished tied for 28, shooting an 84 in the third round for a total of 240. Senior Rhys Jones carded an 80 and finished 45th with one birdie on the day.
As a team, the Blackbirds finished with 20 birdies and 153 parred holes for the three days, and were second among all teams on par-three holes.
