BROOKLYN, N.Y. - LIU Brooklyn's Rorie Crum was named Northeast Conference Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the league on Monday. This marks the freshman's second NEC Rookie of the week honor this season.
Crum's performances against both Siena and Howard helped the Blackbirds to a 1-1 week. In a 19-13 loss at Siena, Crum was one of three Blackbirds to post a hat trick or better, before the game was eventually called due to weather. The freshman also finished with two ground balls and two caused turnovers against the Saints.
On Saturday, the Odenton, Md. native posted one goal, one assist, and an impressive nine draw controls in an 18-4 victory over Howard in the Blackbirds home opener. Crum sits second on the team with 19 total draw controls this season. The rookie has also tallied eight points so far in 2016 (5g, 3a).
Crum and the rest of the Blackbirds will be back in action on Thursday, March 24 when they take on LaSalle. The first draw is set for 7:00pm in Philadelphia, Pa.
