Women's Soccer Shut Out By Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- The LIU Brooklyn women's soccer team lost its first of two games in Florida, falling to Jacksonville University, 2-0, on Friday evening at Southern Oak Stadium.

Junior goalkeeper Aline Allmann started in net for the Blackbirds and denied each of the Dolphins' first 15 shots in the first half. The opening period was a closely contested affair, with LIU keeping the pressure on Jacksonville throughout. The Blackbirds only trailed by one in shot count (14 to 15), saves (three to four) and corners (two to three).

Jacksonville found a way to get on the board in the second half, scoring in the 69th minute on freshman sub Megan Virgin and adding an insurance goal in the 81st minute.

Eight LIU players recorded at least one shot, with redshirt senior Jenn Peters logging a team-high five chances. Allmann and Virgin each played 45 minutes and combined to stop seven shots.
