BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn men's soccer team win their sixth straight game Friday night, beating Central Connecticut State 1-0, to improve to 7-3-1 on the season, and 2-0 in Northeast Conference play.
LIU's lone goal came in the 64
th minute. Sophomore
Daniel Quiros Herrero intercepted a ball on CCSU's side, and passed it up the field to where
Romario Guscott was waiting. The senior beat a defender and the Blue Devils keeper to earn an open net, and the Kingston, Jamaica native tapped it in to put the Blackbirds on the board.
Though CCSU would keep the offensive attack up, including a shot in the 88
th minute that nearly made it in, freshman
Sam Ilin earned his second shutout of the season, ensuring LIU's 1-0 victory.
Guscott led the Blackbirds with two shots on goal, while classmates
Rasmus Hansen and
Filip Nordström also recorded shots for LIU. Up next, the Blackbirds host Sacred Heart on LIU Field, Friday, October 12 at 6 p.m., before their Senior Day and Alumni Day celebrations, Sunday, October 14 at 1 p.m.
