Chris Reyes is back for his fourth season as a volunteer assistant coach on head coach Don Maines’ staff, working primarily with the catchers. The former New York City Public School Athletic League Most Valuable Player brings a wealth of playing experience to the Blackbirds.
Reyes was selected the PSAL Most Valuable Player while at Tottenville High School in Staten Island, N.Y. He led his team to a 30-0 mark and a city championship during his senior season. After batting .550 for the year, the catcher was named to the All-New York State First Team and was a First Team All-NYC selection by the New York Daily News. Reyes was also named Fourth Team All-America by the American Baseball Coaches Association. Following his stellar high school career, Reyes played at Brookdale Community College for two seasons. He moved on to the College of Staten Island, where he was named to the City University of New York League First Team after his first season with the squad in 2004.
Reyes is the owner of The Next LvL Baseball Youth Camp and is a showcase, camp and tournament director for the Blue Chips Prospects College Recruiting Company. He also serves as catching, hitting and infield instructor at the Victory Sports Baseball Academy in Staten Island and is the head coach of the Long Island Titans 18-year-old travel team.
