Off-Campus Facilities

Prospect Park

The LIU Brooklyn cross country teams use this historic park as a primary site for its training sessions. Prospect Park is a 585-acre urban oasis located in the heart of Brooklyn, New York City’s most populous borough. The masterpiece of famed landscape architects Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, who also designed Central Park, Prospect Park features the 90-acre Long Meadow, the 60-acre lake and Brooklyn’s only forest. The Park also boasts a stunning variety of natural and geological features. Brooklyn’s only forest is here, along with a complex water system, rolling meadows and shaded hillsides. Prospect Park is safer, cleaner, more vibrant, and more popular today than it's ever been.

USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center

One of the sites that the LIU Brooklyn tennis team trains and plays at is the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, which is also the site of the U.S. Open. The facility is one of the largest public tennis facilities in the world and includes 45 indoor and outdoor tennis courts. Since opening in 1978, the facility has served as a "Tennis Welcome Center."

Marine Park Golf Course

Marine Park Golf Course was designed by Robert Trent Jones and serves as the training facility for the LIU Brooklyn women's golf team throughout the season. This links course built off Jamaica Bay is, at nearly 7,000 yards, the longest in the city. Factor in the steady in-your-face wind that always seems to blow off the bay, and the course plays close to 8,000 yards at times.
While always boasting wonderful greens, the new management team is already hard at work bringing the rest of the course up to those standards.
Clean-up of all the overgrown greenery, a new state-of-the-art, full service pro shop and a fleet of brand new golf carts are only a few of the improvements already in place. A new practice facility opened in the spring of 2007, complete with new chipping and putting greens.

Pelham/Split Rock Golf Club

Historic Pelham/Split Rock Golf Club serves as a training ground for the men’s golf team at LIU Brooklyn. It is New York City’s only 36-hole facility, located just south of Westchester County in the Bronx.
The Pelham Course was built in 1901 and was renovated during the 2004-05 season. A links-style course, Pelham is renowned for its solid golf layout and ease of playability.
The Split Rock course was built in 1932 and has long been considered the city’s finest championship layout. Heavily tree-lined with a great routing, the Split Rock course is completing the final stages of renovation with all-new tee boxes, major bunker re-working, the addition of numerous new bunkers as well as a revised fairway layout on No. 14.

Mercer County Golf Academy

The Mercer County Golf Academy is designed to teach golfers of all skill levels, ranging from beginners to aspiring professionals.
Located in Princeton, N.J., the academy provides the newest technological advances to enhance a player’s game. With a state-of-the-art indoor facility, the Blackbirds are handed the opportunity to train throughout the year. The academy uses Simductive Golf technology to provide a simulation of a golf course.
Head professional and LIU assistant coach Bob Corbo also offers custom golf-club fitting and a golf fitness area, where the team can train before or after a round of golf.
