Jay Harris joins the Blackbirds for his first season as the director of basketball operations for the Blackbirds.

Harris comes to LIU from Division III Plymouth State University where he was a member of the coaching staff for two seasons, including a stint as interim head coach for the 2007-08 campaign. Harris got his start in coaching as an undergraduate assistant at Rhode Island College in 2005-06. He also has extensive experience working at basketball camps on the East Coast.

Harris played collegiately at Rhode Island College, serving as a captain for three seasons. As a senior, he played for current LIU associate head coach Jack Perri and was team’s leading rebounder, helping the Anchormen to a 20-9 record and a share of the program’s first Little East Conference regular season crown.

A native of Bedford, Mass., Harris graduated with a bachelors degree in justice studies from Rhode Island College in 2005.
