Leroy Solomon enters his fourth season as assistant track and field coach for the Blackbirds. Solomon will work continue his work with LIU’s jumpers where he helped the Blackbirds earn All-Northeast Conference honors six times in 2008-09.

 

As an assistant coach at City College of New York and Lehman College, Solomon enjoyed a successful career where he worked with several national champions and All-Americans. Solomon has also coached athletes in international competition.

He worked with the Jamaican silver medalists in the 4x100 relay at the 2000 World Junior Championships. The Yonkers, N.Y., native coached several U.S. national and Olympic qualifiers in the triple jump, long jump, 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash and heptathlon.

 

During his collegiate career, Solomon was the Division III triple jump record-holder and a three-time All-American.

 

Solomon graduated from CCNY in 1987 with a bachelor’s degree in economics and minor in education.
