Jessica Hopton begins her third season at LIU Brooklyn as a graduate assistant coach in 2014. Hopton joined the Blackbirds after a decorated four-year playing career at La Salle, and was a member of the LIU staff that won the 2012 Northeast Conference title.

Hopton was a stalwart in the defensive backfield for the Explorers throughout her career, and helped the team to 45 victories in her four seasons. As a freshman, the three-time captain was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team and also earned team Rookie of the Year honors.

A three-time All-Atlantic 10 selection, Hopton was an honorable mention selection as a sophomore before earning first-team status as a junior and senior. In 2011, she was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Region First Team and also earned recognition by the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference on its first team.

Hopton helped lead La Salle to an outstanding 15-2-3 mark this past year which resulted in an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament. The West Chester, Pa. native concluded her standout career as the school's all-time leader in games played and games started.

Also a standout student, Hopton was a member of the A-10 Commision's Honor Roll in each of her four years at La Salle and graduated from the school with a bachelor's degree in marketing in May 2012. She is currently working towards her MBA at LIU Brooklyn.
