Jim Robbins was named head women's soccer coach at LIU Brooklyn in the spring of 2014, and takes over a program that has seen unparalleled success in recent years. Robbins inherits a team that has advanced to the Northeast Conference Tournament final in four consecutive seasons and earned berths into the NCAA Tournament twice over that span.

"We are excited to have Jim join us," LIU Brooklyn director of athletics John Suarez said. "I am confident that he will continue the proud academic and athletic excellence of our women's soccer program."

Robbins comes to LIU after serving as head women's soccer coach at LaGrange College in LaGrange, Ga. for five seasons. He led the Panthers into the championship match of the Great South Athletic Conference Tournament for the first time in the program's history in 2011, as the team knocked nine-time defending champion Maryville from the tournament on penalty kicks in the semifinal round.

The Panthers had a pair of players selected to the 2011 GSAC All-Conference team, one to the GSAC All-Freshman team and nine earn GSAC All-Academic honors. The team was bestowed the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Award for the second straight year by posting a composite team GPA of 3.175.

"I want to thank John, senior woman administrator Margaret Alaimo, the search committee, and the current student-athletes for the opportunity to come to LIU Brooklyn and lead the women's soccer program," Robbins said. "It is a tremendous honor to be chosen from such a strong pool of candidates."

"The women's soccer program at LIU Brooklyn has a rich history of success, both on the field and in the classroom," Robbins continued. "My vision and goal is to build on that success and continue to attract student-athltetes to LIU Brooklyn who will excel in the classroom, be positive members of the greater campus community, and help this program earn a place in the NCAA Tournament on an annual basis."

In 2010, Robbins was named GSAC Coach of the Year after the Panthers matched their highest single-season win total over the previous four years. The team also earned the prestigious NSCAA Team Academic Award and the NSCAA Team Ethics Award.

Prior to taking over at LaGrange, Robbins spent two years as the head women's soccer coach at Oxford College of Emory University in Oxford, Ga. In 2008, Oxford finished with a 14-5 record, a 10-win improvement from the previous season. The squad ranked fifth nationally in the NSCAA Top 25 Poll and was rated sixth by the National Junior College Athletic Association.

Three of his players at Oxford earned NJCAA Academic All-American honors, two of the three with distinction by having a GPA above a 3.85. One player was also named NJCAA All-American and finished the year tied for third in the country in scoring. Oxford also earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award in both 2007 and 2008, and was on track to win the award again in 2009. The team was named the NJCAA Academic Team of the Year in 2007 with a team GPA of 3.44.

Robbins has 18 years of experience coaching in the Olympic Development Programs in New Jersey and Georgia. During that time, he has helped numerous players earn regional pool and team honors, and has helped 11 players earn spots into the ODP National Pool.

Over the past four years, Robbins served as head coach of the Georgia ODP '97 girls team that was regarded as the top team in Region III.  During that time, a total of 15 players from his team were selected to the Region Pool and seven were selected to the National Pool in their respective age groups.

Robbins is currently a national staff coach for U.S. Soccer and works directly with the Girls National Team Program in Region III. He will continue in that role in Region I upon his hiring at LIU Brooklyn.

Prior to moving to Georgia in the spring of 2006, Robbins was the top assistant coach for the men's team at Rider University for three seasons. He was also the technical director for the Lawrence Hamnett Soccer Association in Lawrence, N.J. He has operated the Jim Robbins Soccer School in Trenton, N.J., and was the head boys' varsity coach at the Pennington School in Pennington, N.J for six years.

A member of both the United States Soccer Federation and the NSCAA, Robbins holds USSF Youth & A licenses, as well as NSCAA Advanced, Premier, Youth and Goalkeeper 1 Diplomas. He is a graduate of Lafayette College in Easton, Pa. with a degree in economics and business, and recently completed his master's degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University-Irvine in June 2014.

Robbins and his wife, Jocelyn, have two sons, Kyle and Damien.
