Tim Gardner joined head coach Stephanie Del Preore's staff in June 2015. Prior to coming to LIU, he spent the 2014-15 season as an assistant coach at Iona College.

In his time with the Gaels, Gardner was tasked with developing guard play, including that of 2014-15 MAAC Player of the Year Damika Martinez. Gardner also recruited extensively across the Mid-Atlantic and south regions for Iona.

Prior to his season at Iona, Gardner served as the director of basketball operations at Seton Hall University for one season, after previously holding the same position with the Gaels from 2011-13.

Gardner spent six seasons as the top assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Kean University in New Jersey. While at Kean, Gardner was an integral part of the most successful period in the history of the women’s basketball program. During his time, the team had a record of 147-35, winning three New Jersey Athletic Conference championships and making five NCAA Tournament appearances. In the five NCAA appearances, the team reached the Elite Eight three times and the Sweet Sixteen once.

A native of Caldwell, N.J., Gardner graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Maryland in 2003.
