Richard James will go down as one of the most decorated track & field athletes in LIU Brooklyn history. A 13-time NEC champion in both individual and relay events, James broke and still holds school and conference records in the indoor 200-meter and 400-meter dashes as well as the outdoor 400-meter dash. In 2003, he became the first male track & field athlete in school history to earn All-America status with an eighth-place finish at the 2003 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The following year, he represented his native Jamaica at the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.
