Shannon Payne made her mark as one of the top pitchers in the storied history of LIU Brooklyn softball from 1999-2001. During that span, Payne helped LIU accummulate 96 victories and led the Blackbirds to a pair of conference championships and appearances at NCAA Regionals. A two-time First Team All-NEC selection, the right-handed pitcher set school records in innings pitched (623), wins (59) and strikeouts (309) and was named NEC Tournament MVP in 1999 and 2001. As a senior, she won a school record 26 games and tossed 12 shutouts en route to being named to the Louisville Slugger All-Mid-Atlantic Team.
