Louis Brignoni (1972-75): The Blackbirds starting point guard from 1972-75, Brignoni was a hard-nosed player and a true floor general. Along with countryman Ruben Rodriguez, he led LIU to victories over Seton Hall, St. Bonaventure, Drexel and Austin Peay during his career. As a sophomore, he averaged 8.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and a team-best 6.2 assists per game. As a junior, he increased his scoring to 11.9 ppg while chipping in with 4.0 rebounds and 5.4 assists per contest. As a senior, he produced 10.8 points per game and paced the squad in assists for the third consecutive year.
