Jorge Acosta helped the men’s soccer team compile a 46-6-5 record from 1984-86, including a pair of trips to the NCAA Tournament. He led the team in assists during all three seasons, finishing with 30 helpers for his career. Acosta graduated No. 10 on the all-time list at LIU with 33 career goals, including 15 as a sophomore to rank second on the team. He helped the 1986 team post a 15-1-3 record and attain a No. 3 national ranking. Named one of the nation’s top freshmen by Soccer America, he earned All-New York recognition as a sophomore.
