Lorna Singleton was a standout for the women’s basketball team from 1981-85. An outstanding rebounder, she led the team in rebounding twice and left LIU as the program’s all-time leader with 890 caroms, which currently ranks fourth. Singleton still ranks among the schools top-10 in free throw attempts (337), free throws made (204) and blocked shots (46), while also posting the seventh and eighth best single-season rebounding marks in the LIU record book. As a senior she led the team in field goal percentage and rebounding, while averaging 12.9 points and 11.5 rebounds. She ranked third in the Cosmopolitan Conference in rebounding as a junior and led the team in field goal percentage.
