Bob Gesslein was the long-time director of public relations and sports information at Long Island University where he oversaw the publicity efforts of the Blackbirds’ student-athletes. In his 28 years at LIU, Gesslein was well-respected by journalists and his colleagues and was honored by the Met Basketball Writers Association with their Distinguished Service Award in 1996. Prior to his time at LIU, Gesslein served in the United States Army and worked for the Journal American.
