2010-11 Schedule
Brooklyn, N.Y. - Long Island University head coach Gail Strielger and the women's basketball team released its 2010-11 schedule today. The Blackbirds have 29 regular-season contests on tap, including the annual installment of the LIU Turkey Classic.
Long Island will open up the new campaign with a trip to nearby Columbia on Friday, Nov. 12 before hosting its first game of the season at the Wellness, Recreation and Athletic Center on Wednesday, Nov. 17 against Lafayette. The Blackbirds will make the trek to Syracuse on Monday, Nov. 22 before returning home for an event that has become synonymous with Thanksgiving leftovers: the LIU Turkey Classic. This season, Long Island will take on McNeese State on Friday, Nov. 26 before squaring off with either Colgate or Boston University the following day.
Home games against Howard and Stony Brook, along with visits to Maryland-Eastern Shore, Delaware State, Jacksonville and North Florida round out the non-conference slate. The Blackbirds will open the Northeast Conference portion of its schedule on Sunday, Dec. 5 when Robert Morris visits Brooklyn. NEC play will continue in earnest on Tuesday, Jan. 4 when Saint Francis (Pa.) comes to town. Long Island will face their local rival St. Francis (N.Y.) in back-to-back games as part of the NEC's Rivalry Weekend. After a game in Brooklyn Heights on Sunday, Feb. 12, the Blackbirds and Terriers will tangle in Downtown Brooklyn on Monday, Feb. 14 to decide the annual Battle of Brooklyn.
