Today's Headlines
• The Blackbirds are coming off a 72-41 trouncing of Wagner on Monday, improving their record to 6-2 overall and 1-1 in Northeast Conference play.
• Junior Krystal Wells matched her career high with 16 points against the Seahawks, equalling the previous mark set earlier this season against Tennessee Tech. Wells hit three trifectas in the game and is now shooting .469 (15-32) from deep this year.
• Senior Ashley Palmer had 14 points in the contest against Wagner, extending her double-digit scoring streak to seven games.
• Senior Kiara Evans dished out a season-high nine assists in the win over Wagner and is one assist away from third place on LIU's career list (329, Coleen McGlynn (1988-92)).
• Long Island holds a 4-2 record all-time against Stony Brook, with its last game coming in the 2001-02 season. The Blackbirds took home an 81-73 victory over the Seawolves, with Tamika Dudley scoring 23 points in the win.
• Long Island matched the best start in program history through six games with a 64-52 win over Albany on Nov. 30. The 5-1 start had been done twice before by Blackbird teams (1968-69 & 1976-77).
Rewind: Wagner
•Long Island easily disposed of Wagner, 72-41, on Dec. 3 at the Wellness Center.
•The Blackbirds jumped out to leads of 10-0 and 20-4 en route to the runaway win.
•LIU held a decisive 41-8 advantage in bench scoring, led by Krystal Wells' 16 points.
•Defensively, Long Island forced a season-high 28 turnovers and had 15 steals -- including five from senior Kiara Evans.
Making Reservations
•Long Island dominated the bench scoring battle against Wagner, as its reserves posted 41 points -- 30 of which came after halftime.
•Wells had 16 points in the affair, while junior Ebony Davis -- normally a starter -- came off the bench to add 10.
•Senior MaryAnn Abrams saw her first action this season and came through with seven points in eight minutes.
•The 41 points was the most for an LIU bench since Kiara Evans tallied 22 of the team's 42 bench points in a 71-59 win over Boston University last year.
Wells Goes Deep
•Junior Krystal Wells has been on the mark from long range early this season.
•Wells ranks fourth in the Northeast Conference in three-point field goal percentage, hitting 46.9 percent of her attempts from deep.
•The 5-5 guard has hit a three-pointer in all but one game this season, and has a streak of six straight games with at least one three.
