College Sports Madness Preseason All-NEC Women's Basketball Team
BROOKLYN, N.Y. - LIU Brooklyn women's basketball senior Ebony Davis has been named to the 2012-2013 Madness NEC Women's Basketball Preseason All-Conference Team, it was announced by the staff at College Sports Madness Thursday.
Davis was named to the All-NEC second team after she finished last season ranked second on the team in both scoring (10.0 ppg) and rebounding (7.6 rpg). The 6-0 forward also set a school record with 60 blocks to rank second in the NEC in the category, while leading LIU in field-goal percentage (.495) and free-throw percentage (.770).
Quinnipiac's Felicia Barron, who led the nation in steals last year, was named Preseason NEC Player of the Year while Dani Anderson of Bryant was named Preseason Freshman of the Year.
The Blackbirds, who won 21 games in 2011-12, will open their season on Friday, Nov. 9 at city rival Columbia. Tipoff is set for 12:00 p.m.
