BROOKLYN, N.Y. - LIU women's basketball continues its opening week on the road, as the Blackbirds will travel to Lawrenceville, N.J., to take on Rider University, Thursday, November 14 at 7 p.m. The game is the second of the season for LIU, as the Blackbirds are coming off a loss to Columbia in their season opener. LIU fell to the Lions, 62-59, despite shooting 42% from the field, and outrebounding Columbia, 47-32. The Blackbirds were led by senior Cleandra Roberts (23 points, nine rebounds), junior Letava Whippy (16 points, 10 rebounds) and freshman Aleisha Myers (10 points, five rebounds, four assists).
 
ALL-TIME SERIES
• The Blackbirds have a storied history with the Broncs, as the two teams have played each other for over thirty years. The first matchup between the two teams occurred in 1981. Rider holds the all-time advantage over LI U, 2-15, including the last 11 meetings.
• The last time the Broncs and the Blackbirds faced off, most members of the current LIU squad were still in diapers. Rider last beat the Blackbirds December 5, 1997, by a score of 64-52.
• The last time LIU won a game over the Broncs was in 1991.
 
SCOUTING RIDER
• The Broncs have played two games so far this season, and are 0-2 on the year. Rider lost at Lafayette in its season opener, 67-62, and most recently, fell to Seton Hall on the road, 86-75. Thursday's game against LI U will be the team's first home game of the season.
• In both games so far, the Broncs have been led by senior MyNeshia McKenzie. Against Lafayette, she had 24 points and 12 rebounds, while she had 18 points and 13 rebounds against the Pirates.
• The other top scorers for Rider include Emily Fazzini (13.0 ppg) and Mikal Johnson (10.5 ppg).
 
CRAZY CAREER HIGHS
• Though the end result wasn't what the Blackbirds had hoped for, the season-opening loss to Columbia saw two upperclassmen notch impressive career
highs.
• Senior Cleandra Roberts hit career highs in points (23), field goals made (10), field goals attempted (19), and three-pointers attempted (3).
• Junior Letava W hippy had only the second double double of her career, as she scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. The guard had career highs in points (16), field goals made (6), and field goals attempted (10), while tying her career highs for free throws made (4) and free throws attempted (7).
