NEC All-League Honorees
BROOKLYN, N.Y. - LIU Brooklyn freshman Sophie Bhasin was named to the Northeast Conference All-Rookie team, it was announced by the NEC Thursday on Twitter. Bhasin becomes the 13th Blackbird in program history selected to the All-Rookie squad, and the first since Ashley Palmer in 2008-09.
Bhasin, who was named the Choice Hotels/NEC Rookie of the Week for the week of Feb.27- March 5, averaged 7.7 points per game against Northeast Conference opponents, along with 3.4 rebounds per game in league play.
She had six games where she scored in double figures against the NEC, including 16 points against St. Francis Brooklyn in Februrary, and 15 points in LIU's win over No.2 seed Sacred Heart on March 4. She also had season-high eight rebounds against St. Francis Brooklyn and Quinnipiac.
LIU women's basketball finished the season with an exciting win over Sacred Heart, 73-68, to end the year 7-22 overall, and 4-14 in NEC play.
