BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The LIU Brooklyn women's basketball team is in the midst of a five-game home-stand at the Steinberg Wellness Center, and up next, will host a tough Northeast Conference opponent Monday. BIRD SEED
• The Blackbirds will be looking to repeat last year's success against Saint Francis, as the Blackbirds beat the Red Flash, 61-43 in the Wellness Center last February.
Letava Whippy was a force to be reckoned with in the win, as the Suva, Fiji native had a her first career double-double to lead LIU. Whippy racked up 14 points, 15 rebounds and three assists to lead LIU. She was one of three players in double figures;
Tamika Guz added 12 points and seven rebounds, while
Sophie Bhasin had 12 points and five rebounds. Point guard
Kelly Robinson had eight assists and three steals to drive the offense.
• LIU will be looking to bounce back from a tough loss to Robert Morris Saturday afternoon, as RMU beat the Blackbirds, 66-52. With the win, RMU moved into sole possession of first place in the NEC, with a 6-1 record.

Cleandra Roberts led LIU with 15 points, along with six rebounds and two steals. Sophomore
Sophie Bhasin had 13 points, while freshman
Aleisha Myers chipped in 10 points, going 3-for-6 from behind the three-point line. Senior
Fanny Cavallo added eight points, a team-high eight rebounds, two blocks and two steals, while junior
Letava Whippy had a game-high six assists, and senior
Courtney Sullivan added a career-high four assists.

• Saint Francis U holds a 41-15 advantage in the all-time series against LIU Brooklyn.
• LIU won the most recent matchup last season, 61-43 in the Wellness Center.

SCOUTING THE RED FLASH
• Saint Francis U comes to the Steinberg Wellness Center with the highest-octane offense in the Northeast Conference. The Red Flash are averaging 81.2 points per game, the highest team total in the league. The squad also leads the NEC in forced turnovers, and have had three 100+ point wins.
• Most recently, Saint Francis had a 110-69 win on the road at FDU, to improve to 4-3 in the NEC and 6-12 overall. Earlier in the year, the Red Flash set a new NEC scoring record against the Knights, beating them in Loretto, 111-89.
• The Flash have lost to three NEC teams this season, including first-place Robert Morris (83-69), Bryant (88-86) and Sacred Heart (95-88).
• Senior forward Alli Williams leads the NEC in scoring, as she averages 23.3 points per game. She's also just one rebound shy of 1,000 for her career, and averages 9.6 rebounds per game.
• Junior guard Alexa Hayward is also a strong shooter for SFU, as she leads the league in three-pointers made (52), and is averaging 15.0 points per game. She has scored 20+ points in six games this season.
