BROOKLYN, N.Y. - LIU Brooklyn women's basketball head coach Stephanie Oliver was honored by the East Hanover Italian American Club this past weekend, when she was named the 2015 Morris County Columbus Day Parade's Woman of the Year.
Oliver (formerly Del Preore), a native of Livingston, N.J., was honored at a gala October 9, where she was presented with a joint legislative resolution from the Senate and General Assembly of the state of New Jersey. Sunday, October 11, she was honored again as a featured part of the 11th Annual Morris County Columbus Day Parade.
Oliver was honored for her on her years of playing basketball at Livingston High School, Marist College and in the professional ranks, and her career as a women's basketball coach thus far. As a prep player at Livingston, Oliver finished her standout career as the school's all-time leading scorer (1,809 points) and rebounder (1,454 rebounds), and was inducted into the Lancer Athletics Hall of Fame in 2011.
Oliver begins her first season as the head coach at LIU Brooklyn in 2015. The Blackbirds open their season Saturday, November 14 at the University at Buffalo; tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
