BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn men's soccer team remains undefeated in Northeast Conference play after a 1-0 shutout over Robert Morris Friday evening. Senior Nahuel Medina scored the lone goal of the game in the second half, keeping the Blackbirds' four-game winning streak alive against a strong conference rival.

The first shot of the game took place in the second minute, when the NEC Rookie of the Week Lucas Puntillo took a shot that went wide for the Colonials. In the 19th minute, freshman Rasmus Hansen had the first opportunity to score for LIU, but the Robert Morris keeper, Brenden Alfery, intercepted Hansen's shot for his first save of the game.

Hansen took a free kick in the 23rd minute that was headed toward the upper left corner of the goal, but the shot was knocked away by Alfery. The game would remain scoreless going into the second half.

Early in the second half, midfielder Keane McIvor dribbled down the field for Robert Morris, shooting to score from 18 yards, but senior Logan Keys made the save for the Blackbirds to keep the Colonials off the board. In the 55th minute, redshirt sophomore Naeem Charles took his first shot of the game from 10 yards that was deflected by the keeper. Senior Raffi Gregorian tried to score off of the blocked shot, barely missing off the cross bar.

Freshman Simen Hestnes got a shot off in the 73rd minute, just right of the goal, that was blocked by the keeper and deflected to Medina, who found the back of the net for the Blackbirds. This was Medina's third goal of the season.

LIU is now 6-5-2 on the season and 3-0-0 in the NEC.
