Coach Oliver on the 2016 Recruiting Class
BROOKLYN, N.Y. - LIU Brooklyn women's basketball head coach Stephanie Oliver has announced four athletes have signed National Letter of Intent to join the Blackbirds' family for the 2016-17 season. Autumn Ashe, Aja Boyd, Gabrielle Caponegro and Seneca Richards will play for LIU beginning next fall.

Ashe joins the Blackbirds from Paint Branch High School in Silver Spring, Maryland. A 6'0" guard, she's helped lead her team to three division titles, two regional titles and the state finals in her junior year. She led her team in made three-point shots in 2014-15, and was named Gazette Honorable Mention. In her junior year, she averaged 11.7 points per game, and grabbed 5.0 rebounds per game.

Boyd, a 6'2" center who plays at Apppomattox Regional Governor's Arts & Tech High School in Petersburg, Virgina, averaged17.0 points per game, 10.1 rebounds per game, 5.1 blocks per game and 3.0 steals per game in her junior year. She has been named first team All-State and All-District, and earned regional honors as well. She was also named to the Conference 41 first team.

Caponegro is a 6'1" forward from near by St. John Vianney High School, in Homdel, N.J. Interested in studying physical therapy, the Allenwood, N.J. native was a part of two championship teams: in her sophomore season, the squad won the Non-Public A South Championships, and in her junior season, they were state champions, earning the New Jersey Non-Public A title. That season, she average 6.0 points per game, 8.0 rebounds per game, and 2.0 blocks per game.

Richards, a 5'11 guard from Red Mountain High School in Mesa, Arizona, averaged 16.6 points per game in her junior season, along with 4.1 rebounds per game, 1.7 assists per game, and 2.0 steals per game. She has been named first team All-City, second team All-Section, and honorable mention All-Arizona Division 1, and All-Tribune in her career thus far.
