BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The LIU Brooklyn men's soccer team tied with Howard, 1-1, Friday night. The Bison knotted the game midway through the second half and the Blackbirds were unable to regain the lead in double overtime.
Freshman
Erik Wahlin jump started the offense early for LIU, getting two shots off in the 3
rd and 4
th minutes. The first was saved by the Howard keeper and the second was blocked. Freshman
Rasmus Hansen took a shot in the 12
th minute that went wide.

Simen Hestnes and Redshirt freshman
Romario Guscott had back-to-back shots for the Blackbirds in the 26
th and 28
th minutes. Hestnes showed off his ball handling skills trying find the back of the net, but his shot went wide. Guscott went for a long goal, but his shot was intercepted by the Howard keeper.
In the 38
th minute, junior
Dennis Amvrosiatos sent a cross to Hestnes, who got a shot off from the left side on a through ball from 16 yards and scored the first goal of the match, giving the Blackbirds a 1-0 lead going into the second half.
Wahlin had another opportunity to score off of a corner kick from senior
Raffi Gregorian in the 57th minute, but the header went wide. Howard's Xavier Rajpaul scored the equalizer off of a pass from Nigel Grant early in the 75
th minute. Sophomore
Brian Paredes had the last shot in regulation, but it went wide.
Paredes had the only shot for the Blackbirds in the 99
th minute. Hestnes, Hansen and redshirt sophomore
Naeem Charles all had scoring opportunities in double overtime, but were unable to take the lead for LIU. The Blackbirds and Bison end the game in a draw. LIU is now 2-4-1 on the season.
