BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The LIU Brooklyn men's soccer team tied with La Salle, 0-0, in double overtime on Saturday afternoon at LIU Field. The Blackbirds' defense kept the Explorers off the board, but LIU struggled to score against an equally strong La Salle defense.

Junior keeper Logan Keys made the first save of the game in the 6th minute, when La Salle forward Mike Liska got a shot off from just inside the box. Redshirt freshman Romario Guscott had the first opportunity to score for the Blackbirds in the 10th minute off of a corner kick that went high.

There was a loose ball midway through the 20th minute that freshman Christoffer Solbakken collected, but his shot was intercepted by La Salle's keeper, Cameron Keys, Logan Keys' younger brother. This was the first time the two goalies faced off against one another in collegiate play.

In the 42nd minute, senior Nahuel Medina dribbled down the field and had the last shot of the first half that missed high.It would remain scoreless going into the second half.

Freshman Rasmus Hansen beat two La Salle defenders to get a shot off from inside the box in the 65th minute, but it was blocked by the Explorers' defense. Logan Keys made back-to-back saves for the Blackbirds in the 83rd minute, preventing La Salle from getting on the board in regulation. The second half would end with a 0-0 score, forcing the game into overtime.

LIU's defense would prove to be strong, stopping three of the Explorers' shots in overtime and double overtime, keeping the game scoreless. The score would remain 0-0, determining a draw. Guscott led the Blackbirds' offense with four shots and Logan Keys recorded four saves on the match.

LIU is now 2-5-2 on the season.
