BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Sophomore
Trevin Woods connected on six three-pointers and scored a career-high 20 points as the LIU Brooklyn men's basketball team put together an impressive performance in a 79-61 victory over Bryant on Saturday afternoon. The Blackbirds earned their second straight Northeast Conference road win in improving to 9-8 on the year and 3-3 in NEC play.
Coming off an exciting last-second win over Wagner on Thursday, LIU jumped out to a quick 10-6 lead thanks to five points from junior
Aakim Saintil. Saintil led the charge against the Seahawks, scoring a career-high 27 points including 20 in the second half of a 17-point comeback win.
The contest remained close for the first 12 minutes of the period, before back-to-back three-pointers from Woods ignited a 25-6 run over the next 6:30 to catapult the Blackbirds in front, 44-25. Woods hit a trio of threes and sophomore

Bryant scored eight of the next 10 points to get back to within striking distance, and a three-pointer from Shane McLaughlin putting the score at 64-52 with 7:17 remaining. But Woods went to work from there, scoring eight straight points for his team in less than two minutes to give LIU its largest lead at 74-54 with 3:35 to go. The Blackbirds cruised the rest of the way to jump back to .500 in league play.
The six three-pointers in the game for Woods matched the single-game high for all NEC players this season. Saintil closed with 16 points and four assists while Hernandez added 15 points. Frink ha 12 points, seven rebounds, three blocked shots, three steals and three assists in an all-around effort, while Hermannsson chipped in as the fifth Blackbird in double figures with 11 points to go along with a career-high eight assists.
