SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Playing in the first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference contest in program history, the LIU Brooklyn field hockey team fell to Bryant, 6-0, in a road match on Friday evening. Freshmen
Gillian Vallaster and
Anna Bauer each registered shots for the Blackbirds while
Molly Jannell recorded 11 saves in goal.
The Bulldogs received a goal from six different players, with the first coming from Victoria Newbill at the 10:03 mark of the first half. Emily Perryman scored the second goal of the first half for Bryant, who entered the locker room with a 2-0 lead.
Four more goals over the final 35 minutes accounted for the final margin of victory for the Bulldogs, who won their first contest of the year (1-10).
LIU Brooklyn will play its first match at LIU Field on Sunday, Oct. 9 against Monmouth. The contest is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
