BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn men's soccer team fell to league-leader St. Francis Brooklyn Sunday afternoon at Brooklyn Bridge Park. The Terriers topped the Blackbirds, 1-0, to clinch the regular season Northeast Conference title, going 6-0-1 in NEC action, while LIU moved to 4-2-1, and will be the No.3 seed in next weekend's tournament.

The Blackbirds had chances early on, but were shut down by SFBK's keeper, Robert Bazzichetto. Sophomore Simen Hestnes and freshman Marius Koss both had shots on net in the first 20 minutes of play that Bazzichetto denied.

The first and only goal of the game came in the 27th minute, when St. Francis' Yussuf Olajide scored on pass in front of the net. Koss would have another shot in the 35th minute, but it went wide, and LIU would enter the half down 1-0.

The second half was a defensive struggle, as neither team would get many shots off. LIU's Filip Nordstrom would register two shots late in the game, in the 79th and 80th minute, but both were saved, and the Blackbirds remained scoreless.

With the 1-0 victory, St. Francis Brooklyn clinches the top spot in the NEC tournament, and will host at Brooklyn Bridge Park next weekend. LIU will be the No.3 seed, and take on No.2 seed Saint Francis U., Friday, November 11, at a time to be determined.
