BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The LIU Brooklyn women's basketball team opens the 2016-17 Northeast Conference season this Thursday, December 29, hosting Mount St. Mary's in the Steinberg Wellness Center as a part of a double header with the men's team. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.

- Mount St. Mary's, who was picked to finish eighth in the NEC Preseason Poll, is 2-9 in non conference play this season. The Mountaineers are coming off a 77-45 loss on the road to No.13 West Virginia.
- Mount is 0-6 on the road this season, and winless in the month of December. The Mountaineers will be looking to snap that streak Thursday.
- Last year, LIU beat Mount twice, winning 61-51 on the road, and 53-50 at home in Brooklyn.
- The Moutaineers are led by junior center Caroline Hummell, who averages 11.9 points per game, and 5.8 rebounds per game. Mikal Johnson adds 8.6 points per game, while Katrice Dickson chips in 8.0 per game.
