BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The LIU Brooklyn women's basketball team continues its first weekend of Northeast Conference action, hosting the Bryant Bulldogs in the Steinberg Wellness Center on New Year's Eve, Saturday, December 31 at 2 p.m., as a part of a doubleheader with the men's team.

- The Blackbirds will be looking to continue their winning ways. LIU (2-10, 1-0 NEC) had a big win Thursday at home, holding off a surging Mount St. Mary's squad to win the conference opener, 63-60. Senior
Shanovia Dove led LIU in scoring, with 21 points, along with seven rebounds.
- Freshman
Aja Boyd added 15 points on 5-for-8 shooting, along with a team-high eight boards.
Dionne Coe had 10 points, going 4-for-4 from the free throw line, along with two assists. Sophomore
Drew Winter added eight points and four steals, while freshman
Seneca Richards had seven points.
- Bryant comes to the Steinberg Wellness Center with a 5-7 overall record, having dropped their NEC debut to St. Francis Brooklyn. With non-conference wins over Vermont, Holy Cross, Brown, Rhode Island and UMass Lowell, the Bulldogs had the best record coming into the NEC season, but had their worst offensive game of the year in Brooklyn Heights. Bryant shot just 27.8 percent from the field, losing to SFBK, 63-47. The Bulldogs are 1-5 on the road this season.
- Last year, Bryant beat the Blackbirds twice: 63-55 at home, and 62-53 in Brooklyn.
- Senior forward Alex Klein is the top scorer for the Bulldogs, averaging 16.8 points per game, along with 8.0 rebounds per game. Junior guard Ivory Bailey is next, with 12.1 points per game, and 5.7 rebounds per game.
- Up next, LIU opens 2017 by hitting the road to take on Saint Francis U and Robert Morris. After a week-long break, the Blackbird face off with the Red Flash, Saturday, January 7 at 1 p.m., before a Monday night matchup against the Colonials, January 9 at 7 p.m.
