ORLANDO, Fla. - The LIU Brooklyn softball team pounded out 13 hits and cruised to a 7-2 victory over Middle Tennessee on the final day of the UCF Invitational. Sophomore Victoria Zamora had three hits, juniors Kylie Mulholland and Kayla Gloady each drove in a pair of runs and sophomore Erynn Sobieski earned the complete-game win in the circle for the Blackbirds.

Mulholland stepped to the plate and doubled to the right-centerfield gap to score both runners and give the Blackbirds a 2-0 lead.

An inning later, LIU Brooklyn doubled the margin with senior Alyssa Gospodarek beginning the rally with a leadoff single. After a flyout, an error by the Blue Raiders allowed junior Karlie Brady to reach. Senior Whitney West made the miscue hurt as she singled home Gospodarek to put the score at 3-0.

Middle Tennessee made a pitching change, but Vazquez rudely greeted the new hurler with a base hit to load the bases. A fielder's choice from Zamora plated Brady and pushed the Blackbirds in front, 4-0.

A two-out, two-run single by Kirstyn Cuccia narrowed the advantage to 4-2, but LIU responded with a run in the bottom of the third to regain momentum. Freshman Patricia Griffin began the run-scoring sequence with a one-out single. Two more base hits from Gospodarek and Gloady produced the tally that increased the cushion to 5-2.

Sobieski took over from there, allowing just a lone base runner over the next four innings while the Blackbirds offense tacked on insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings en route to their second win in three games.

LIU Brooklyn continues its spring break trip on March 11-13 at the Florida Atlantic Parents Weekend Tournament in Boca Raton, Fla.
