Tori Shinkowitz scored their first goals of the season for LIU Brooklyn women's soccer, but Siena netted three second-half goals en route to a 4-2 victory on Sunday afternoon. The Blackbirds fall to 0-6-0 in the loss.
The Saints (2-3-3) created the majority of chances in the first half. They fired five shots on goal and 14 shots in the opening stanza. Sophomore keeper
Aline Allmann was up for the test, making four of her nine saves in the opening half.
Siena broke through in the 29th minute on a goal from Michele Tremblay. The Saints, who outshot the Blackbirds 25-9, increased their lead in the 54th minute on Tremblay's second tally of the contest. Five minutes later, Hanna Longendyke placed a header past Allmann to increase Siena's lead to 3-0.
LIU Brooklyn answered back in the 61st minute. Awad fired a shot from the top-right of the box, past the Saint's keeper Taylor Dorado, to cut the lead to 3-1. But Siena responded, when Madison Vasquez converted on a penalty kick to make it 4-1. The Blackbirds added a goal from Shinkowitz in the 84th minute to cut the Saints advantage to two, but the comeback try came up short.
LIU Brooklyn finishes its seven-game streak away from home on Wednesday, Sept. 14 when it travels to Boston College to face the Eagles. Kickoff is slated for 4:00 p.m.
