WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The LIU Brooklyn field hockey team fell to Monmouth in a Friday afternoon Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference matchup, 10-1. The Hawks, one of the top scoring teams in the nation, had 29 shots on the Blackbirds, 23 of which came in the first half.
Monmouth jumped out to an early lead in the contest, scoring three goals in the first 11 minutes of action. The Hawks led, 7-0 at the half. LIU was able to lock down the offense in the second half, holding Monmouth to just six shots in that period.

Eva Scholten five minutes into the second half. Scholten used a reverse stick to get the ball in net and put LIU on the board, 8-1. But the home team would score twice more in the second half, taking the game by a final score of 10-1.
