Women's Soccer Shut Out By Robert Morris

BROOKLYN, N.Y. --- LIU Brooklyn Women's Soccer opened its latest Northeast Conference weekend slate with a 2-0 defeat to the Robert Morris Colonials Friday evening at LIU Field.

The Blackbirds fell behind early in the 20th minute as RMU's Kristina Kelley tapped home a long lead pass from Kasia Bak that drew junior goalkeeper Aline Allmann off her spot. Kelley would add an insurance goal late in the second half as an inadvertent handball in the box from the Blackbirds in the 65th minute led to a successful penalty kick for the Colonials.

LIU was aggressive in its play - especially in the second half - but simply could not convert on its chances. Junior Marian Awad let all players with seven shot attempts, with a pair of second half tries from distance narrowly missing the net (one off the post and one saved high).
