The decisive tally came in the 72nd minute as Bryant's Haley Reddish took a pass from Alyssa Riccione to the right of the box and put a shot on goal against junior goalkeeper Aline Allmann. Allmann played the shot perfectly and got a hand on the ball, but the ball took an unfortunate bounce behind her and found its way into the goal. LIU had its chances to breakthrough in the match - including a close range opportunity in each half - but were unable to do so. Redshirt senior Jenn Peters had an excellent chance to score in the early moments of the first half, corralling a loose ball in the Bryant defensive third and taking the first shot of the contest. Despite the quality look, Bryant goalkeeper Rachel Brightman was able to get a hand on the ball and knock it away. Almost two minutes before Bryant's goal, freshman Kimberly Butland nearly put home a score on the lower right side of the goal but was a bit too far ahead of the setup pass and drew an offsides call. The Blackbirds and Bulldogs were even on shots in the first half with five apiece and LIU held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks. An aggressive Bryant offense changed those numbers in the final box score - 13 shots to nine (6-4 on goal) and eight corners to LIU's three. Peters led the Blackbirds with three total shots and two on goal while Allmann made five saves on the night. NEXT UP LIU will play its final road game of the regular season on Friday, October 27 against Central Connecticut.
