LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The LIU Brooklyn field hockey team moved to 1-1 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action Sunday afternoon, falling to Rider on the road, 4-1.

The Broncs took an early lead, scoring just over six minutes into the game, when they were able to score off a rebounded shot. Six minutes later, the home team made it 2-0 with a goal in the 12^th minute.

LIU got on the board in the 23^rd minute, when sophomore Gillian Vallaster scored a goal in the circle, her first of the season, to cut the lead to 2-1.
 
Rider would score twice more in the second half, both goals in a three minute period, to widen the lead to 4-1, and take the win over LIU.

Eva Scholten and Madi Cook both had shots for the Blackbirds in the loss, while sophomore goalie Molly Jannell made four saves in net.
 
Up next, the Blackbirds take on MAAC opponent Monmouth on the road, Friday, October 13 at 4 p.m.
