LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The LIU Brooklyn field hockey team moved to 1-1 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action Sunday afternoon, falling to Rider on the road, 4-1.
The Broncs took an early lead, scoring just over six minutes into the game, when they were able to score off a rebounded shot. Six minutes later, the home team made it 2-0 with a goal in the 12
th minute.
LIU got on the board in the 23
rd minute, when sophomore
Gillian Vallaster scored a goal in the circle, her first of the season, to cut the lead to 2-1.
Rider would score twice more in the second half, both goals in a three minute period, to widen the lead to 4-1, and take the win over LIU.
Eva Scholten and
Madi Cook both had shots for the Blackbirds in the loss, while sophomore goalie
Molly Jannell made four saves in net.
