BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn men's soccer team saw their 2017 season come to an end Sunday afternoon, as the Blackbirds fell to defending Northeast Conference champions St. Francis Brooklyn in the NEC Championship game at Brooklyn Bridge Park, 5-0.

Rasmus Hansen and freshman Daniel Quirros Herrero were named to the NEC All-Tournament team for their play throughout the weekend.
The Terriers got the scoring started early Sunday, netting their first goal of the game just 10 minutes into play to take an early lead. The host team would add another goal 14 minutes later, scoring on a header to make it 2-0. LIU would hold SFBK scoreless from there, but the Blackbirds couldn't get a shot on net, and entered the halftime break down by two.
The game was a physical one, and continued to be so in the second half, with the Terriers maintaining the offensive pressure in the second half. SFBK would score again in the 59
th minute, and widened the gap to four by scoring in the 74
th minute. A foul called in the 86
th minute on the Blackbirds would result in SFBK's fifth and final goal, and the Terriers took the win, 5-0. SFBK outshot the Blackbirds 18-4 in the contest.
With the loss, the Blackbirds finish the 2017 season as runners-up in the NEC, with a 6-9-3 overall record and 4-2-1 in the conference.
