BROOKLYN, N.Y. --- The LIU Brooklyn women's basketball team will play its last of 2017 and first in its Northeast Conference scheduled on Friday against local rival St. Francis Brooklyn.

- The Blackbirds were defeated in their last matchup before Christmas, a 79-47 home loss to Navy on December 20. Freshman Jeydah Johnson scored a team-high 17 points while graduate transfer Denisha Petty-Evans added 13 in the setback.
- LIU did set a new mark for shooting accuracy in the Navy game, going 6-for-13 from three-point range to raise the team's season high in shooting percentange from deep (.462). The Blackbirds' previous best came in its Barclays Center game vs Lehigh on December 10 (6-for-14; .429).
- Petty-Evans (15.8 ppg), Johnson (13.5 ppg), senior DeAngelique Waithe (7.4 rpg) and redshirt junior Drew Winter (4.5 apg) continue to pace the team in their respective categories. Petty-Evans (3rd), Waithe (3rd), and Winter (2nd) all sport current top-three NEC averages.
- SFBK ended non-conference play with an identical 4-7 record and have alternated wins and losses over their past six contests. The Terriers are led by Jade Johnson (14.3 ppg), Maria Palarino (4.9 rpg), and Amy O'Neill (4.7 apg).
- LIU holds a commanding 49-27 edge over SFBK in the all-time series. The Blackbirds split last year's meetings, winning the series finale, 62-58, on February 20, 2017.
- LIU is entering Northeast Conference play with a sign of program progress - its most non-league wins (four) since 2011-12, when the Blackbirds went 11-2 in non-conference action.
