BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The LIU Brooklyn field hockey team held Patriot League foe Lehigh to just one goal on 18 shots Friday evening, opening the 2017 with a 1-0 loss on the road.

Molly Jannell had nine saves in the contest, facing 18 shots throughout. Lehigh's lone goal came 25 minutes into the game. After Jannell made a save, the Blackbirds were whistled for a foul, and the Mountain Hawks had a penalty corner. Lehigh's Lenke Havas took the shot and scored for the home team, putting them on top, 1-0.
Jannell and the defense would hold Lehigh scoreless for the rest of the game, but LIU was unable to mount an offense, and fell to the Mountain Hawks, 1-0.
