BROOKLYN, N.Y. --- LIU Brooklyn Volleyball captured two of the Northeast Conference's first three weekly awards of the season, the league announced Monday.

Junior outside hitter Viktoria Fink and sophomore libero Natalia Rivera were named Molten/NEC Player and Defensive Player of the Week for their respective performances during LIU's 3-1 opening weekend at the UGA Benson Invitational.

Fink totaled 58 kills (4.14/set) in four matches and 32 digs (2.29/set) over the weekend against UNC Asheville, Presbyterian, George Mason and Georgia. The second team All-NEC outside hitter logged a double-double with a conference-leading 20 kills along with 13 digs in a win over Mason on Saturday and led LIU in kills with 16 in a 3-1 win over Presbyterian on Friday.

Rivera registered 69 digs (4.93/set) over four matches at the Benson Invite, recording over 15 digs in each contest. She had a weekend-high of 20 digs in the Blackbirds' season-opening win over UNC Asheville and also led the team against George Mason (17) and host Georgia (16).

The Player of the Week honor was the first for Fink in her career and the first for LIU since Jiayi Zhang received the award on October 17, 2016. Rivera's defensive accolade was the second of her career and first since October 10, 2016.
