MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Missouri – The LIU Brooklyn field hockey team lost a thrilling neutral site contest Friday afternoon, falling to Colgate in double overtime in Missouri, 2-1.

The Blackbirds had one of their strongest offensive outputs of the season, registering 13 shots and eight penalty corners in the match.

Both of the goals in regulation came in the second half of play. After a scoreless first half, Colgate got on the board first, scoring four and a half minutes into the second. The Raiders would lead for the next 20 minutes, until LIU got on the board we just five minutes left to play.

Freshman Jenna Chrabolowski had her second goal of the season when she scored at 64:59, off a pass from classmate Eva Scholten.

LIU's defense would hold off the Raiders for the rest of regulation, forcing the game into overtime.

LIU put the pressure on in the first OT period, with three shots that were saved by the Colgate goalie. LIU goalie Molly Jannell also had a big save with four minutes left in the period to keep the score at 1-1, and the two teams went to a second bonus period.

Eight minutes in, Colgate would score the golden goal to end the game and take the 2-1 win from LIU.
