Women's Cross Country | Sep 23 | Cross Country Takes Sixth At Owen XC Invite Story Links Results NEW BRITAIN, Conn. --- The LIU Brooklyn cross country team competed in its first event outside of the New York/New Jersey area, running in the 15th Annual Ted Owen Cross Country Invitational Saturday afternoon at Stanley Quarter Park. As a collective, the Blackbirds finished the 11-team 5K race in 6th place, scoring 159 points, posting a 1:41.32 total time and averaging 20:18 per runner. LIU was led by graduate transfer Sarah Northup, who finished in 20th place with a time of 19:37.1. Three other Blackbirds joined Northup in the top 40 - freshman Ashton Burton in 29th (19:55.0), senior Adjovi Simpini in 32nd (20:07.0), and freshman Alyssa Frausto in 39th (20:32.1). Completing LIU's group of runners were senior Nerene Aberdeen (54th, 21:20.9), junior Zaahira Deboise (76th, 22:21.2), and freshman Stephanie Reyes (81st, 23:11.0). NEXT UP LIU will embark on its longest road trip of the season when the team travels to Kissimmee, Fla. to compete in the Disney Cross Country Classic at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on Wednesday, October 6.
