Women's Volleyball | Sep 05 | Rivera Repeats As NEC Defensive Player of the Week Story Links NEC Release BROOKLYN, N.Y. --- LIU Brooklyn Volleyball sophomore libero Natalia Rivera has repeated as the Molten/NEC Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. Rivera improved on the production that earned her the season's first NEC defensive honor (69 digs, 4.93/set in four matches), recording 88 digs (6.29/set) at the George Washington Invitational in one fewer match. Against host GW and Hofstra, Rivera put together the NEC's two highest dig totals of the early season - 40 in a 3-2 win over the host Colonials and 34 in a five-set loss to the Pride. She also led all players with 14 digs in a four-set loss to Indiana. After a pair of non-conference, Rivera is currently pacing the conference with a 5.61 digs/set average. The award was the third of her career and third total weekly honor for the Blackbirds, along with junior Viktoria Fink's Player of the Week award last week. LIU returns to action this weekend as it takes part in the University of North Carolina Tar Heel Classic from September 8-10 in Chapel Hill.
