CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. – The LIU Brooklyn field hockey team fell to Villanova on the road Friday evening, 7-1. The Wildcats scored five goals in the second half to pull away with the win.
The home team scored early in the contest, putting one in six minutes into play after a shot was blocked. The rebound was tapped in, and VU led, 1-0. 12 minutes later, the Wildcats added one more to make it 2-0. From there, the Blackbirds' defense held fast, and Villanova would not score again in the first half.
LIU had a flurry of shots to start the second half off with offensive pressure, but Villanova would turn the tables about 13 minutes into the half. Two quick goals in the span of just under two minutes put the Wildcats up, 4-0. Ten minutes later, another three quick goals would widen the lead to 7-0.
LIU got on the board with just over five minutes left to play. Freshmen
Eveline Gielisse punched a goal in on the left side, off a pass from classmate
Jenna Chrabolowski, to make it 7-1.
The Blackbirds would continue the late pressure, registering four shots and three penalty corners in the final four minutes of action, but none would go in, and LIU fell to the Wildcats by a final score of 7-1.
Sophomore keeper
Molly Jannell would finish with seven saves, facing 30 shots in the contest (14 on net). The Blackbirds were more accurate in their attack, with nine shots, seven of which were on goal.

Amy Reid and sophomore
Lydia Trout had two shots each, while Gielisse led LIU with four shots and the lone goal.
